— Ahhhh, París —

We have taken two trips since my last post, so please allow me to fill in the emptiness between my last post and the now.

On the weekend of the 27th – 28th of July, we visited our dear relatives from Lörrach (my birth-village). We were able to visit the campus of Black Forest Academy, and attend church on the campus. We met a few old friends, but our main purpose in visiting the area was to see our wonderful family. We enjoyed a stroll in the 60°F weather, delicious food, and fellowship. On the way home from our Lörrach weekend, our father announced that we would be spending the next full weekend on Paris for Family’s senior trip! We drove home shocked and excited for our next adventure.

During the week, we play games, read, and watch movies, and, although we still have no internet or TV, we still have much fun. Our daddy occasionally takes us to the base since we now have our military IDs, and we have a few friends who will hang out with us when we are bored. 🙂

On Friday the 1st of August, we set out on our journey to París, France. Last time we were in France, I was a year old, and my siblings were still only toddlers. Few people are able to go to Paris once, but we are so lucky that we get to go twice before we are even old!! Our first night in Paris, we spent at the Eiffel Tower, and lounged under its shadow for a while.

After lounging and being bothered by plenty of vendors, we continued on to our lovely hotel, which was only a quick 2 minute train trip to the center of town.

On our second day (Saturday), we spent our day on the Batobus, a bus-tour to get around Paris. We were able to stop at The Arc de Triumph, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower again, and many other famous sites.

We were also able to attend a Vespers Service in Notre Dame and a Saturday Night Mass. I will just say that it was glorious.

My biggest adventure on this trip was on Saturday night when Kerry and I left the rest of the family to take pictures next to the Eiffel Tower. We went into a large open area filled with vendors, but suddenly, all the vendors that were underneath the Tower sprinted straight for the open area where we were standing. Of course, all the vendors are grown men… And they were running toward us. Well, not only did they run toward us, they then proceeded to all gather in a large huddle with one of the vendors (who we gathered was their manager), yelled angrily at all of them. Kerry and I honestly stayed there only to see if there would be a fist fight, but when they all dispersed, I got a little scared…  After finding our parental again and telling the our story, we went back to our hotel and got a good nights sleep.

Our last day, we spent in museums. The first Sunday of every month is free museum day in Paris! We went to Le Musee de Orsay and went to, not in the Louvre.

On our way home, we saw a beautiful Cathedral in the middle of a village… I thought Id add some pictures.
